Serves: 2, Difficulty: Expert

Preparation Time: 20 minutes, Cooking Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 400 grams of beef
  • 2 grams of salt
  • 1 gram of black pepper
  • 2 grams of paprika
  • 1 gram of baking soda
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 flatbreads
  • 20 ml of olive oil
  • 2 grams of parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 gram of thyme
  • 1 gram of oregano
  • 1 gram of salt

Method

  • In a large bowl, combine the beef with salt, black pepper, paprika, and baking soda. Knead the mixture thoroughly for a uniform blend of flavors.
  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and mix well into the meat.
  • Shape the mixture into small, elongated sausages, around 5 cm in length. Chill in the refrigerator for 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  • In a pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sear the Ćevapi sausages until golden brown and cooked through, approximately 12 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, mix parsley, thyme, oregano, and a pinch of salt. Sprinkle this aromatic blend over the cooked Ćevapi for an extra touch of flavor.
  • Warm the flatbreads briefly in the pan and serve with the Ćevapi, garnished with parsley.

Tips

  • For the best results, let the Ćevapi mixture rest in the refrigerator to let the flavors blend.
  • Serve with a side of fresh salad or a dollop of ajvar for an authentic Bosnian touch.
