Ingredients

  • 300 grams minced lamb
  • 300 grams potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 50 grams butter
  • 30 grams cheddar, grated
  • 50 grams peas
  • 50 grams carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 50 grams onions, finely chopped
  • 50 grams mushrooms, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon parsley
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 50 ml water

Method

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C.
  • In a large pot, boil the chopped potatoes for 15 minutes until tender. Drain and mash them with butter and a pinch of salt.
  • In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and sauté the onions and carrots until soft, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the minced lamb to the skillet and cook until browned, about 8 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and thyme.
  • In the same skillet, add the mushrooms, peas, and water. Simmer for 5 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  • Transfer the lamb and vegetable mixture to a baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes on top, ensuring an even layer.
  • Sprinkle the grated cheddar and parsley on top of the mashed potatoes.
  • Bake in the oven for 25 minutes until the top is golden and the filling is bubbling.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes, serve, and enjoy!
