  • 400 grams of potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 100 grams of onions, diced
  • 100 grams of carrots, diced
  • 50 grams of peas
  • 20 grams of butter
  • 100 ml of beef stock
  • 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • Thyme, a pinch
  • Rosemary, a pinch
  • 50 ml of milk

Method

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).
  • Boil potatoes in salted water for 15 minutes until tender. Drain and mash with butter and milk, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
  • In a pan, sauté onions in a small amount of butter until translucent. Add minced beef, carrots, and peas, and cook until meat is browned.
  • Add beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and rosemary to the meat mixture. Simmer for 10 minutes until the mixture thickens and reduces. Season to taste.
  • Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top.
  • Bake in the oven for 20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Tips

  • For a crispier top, use a fork to rough up the surface of the mashed potatoes before baking.
  • Prepare the meat mixture a day in advance to allow the flavors to develop.
