Ingredients

  • 300 grams of beef
  • 2 leeks, sliced
  • 300 grams of potatoes
  • 100 grams of cheddar cheese, grated
  • 100 millilitres of milk
  • 50 grams of butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 pinch of thyme
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of pepper
  • 500 millilitres of water
  • 1 beef stock cube

Method

  • Preheat your oven to 190°C.
  • Peel and cook the potatoes in boiling water until tender, then drain.
  • Mash the potatoes with butter and milk until creamy. Season with salt and pepper.
  • In a pan, cook the beef until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, sauté the onion and leeks until soft.
  • Return the beef to the pan and add 500 millilitres of water and the beef stock cube. Let simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish and spoon the mashed potatoes on top.
  • Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese and thyme over the mashed potatoes.
  • Bake in the oven for 20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and golden.
