Serves: 2, Difficulty: Expert

Preparation: 30 minutes, Cooking: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (approximately 300 g)
  • 100 g fresh cranberries
  • 100 g oats
  • 50 g granulated sugar
  • 50 g brown sugar
  • 2 g cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 50 g vegetable oil
  • 100 ml water

Method

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C.
  • In a saucepan, combine the sliced apples, fresh cranberries, granulated sugar, water, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • Cook on medium heat, stirring frequently, until the apples begin to soften and the cranberries burst, about 10 minutes.
  • In a bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, and vegetable oil.
  • Mix until the oats are fully coated with sugar and oil to form a crumbly texture.
  • Take a small baking dish and spread the cooked apple and cranberry mixture on the bottom.
  • Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly on top of the fruit.
  • Bake in the oven for 25 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
  • Allow the crumble to cool slightly before serving.

Tips

  • For an extra touch, toss in some dried cranberries to the oat mixture for a chewy texture.
  • Allow the crumble to cool a little before serving, to ensure the flavors are at their peak.
